I think we have found ourselves a christmas tradition!
Last night we went to the opening of 'Christmas at Dunham Massey' and I can't put into words how much we all enjoyed it.
On arrival, you enter a Christmas carnival full of cool old fashioned rides and surrounded by plenty of hot food stalls including a boozy hot drinks for the adults and a little performance (with a decent looking santa) placed in front of the impressive main building.
At the start of the trail a friendly member of staff picks out a reindeer name for you. If you find your reindeer on the trail, take a picture and receive a prize when you return. We heard loads of kids excitedly running up to the next lit up reindeer and reading out his name tag.
Pictures do not do this place justice, hats off to whoever cleverly put this all together. If you like Home Alone you will love the field full of large glowing spheres set to music, I could have watched that all night! The trail is a mile long, which is a perfect length for kids. Stopping to take pictures and toast marshmallows it took us just over an hour and it’s just £15. I was worried it would be mega busy being the first night but they give you a time slot meaning parking wasn’t too bad either especially if you arrive for the first time slot of 5pm.
Well done National Trust! We will be back next year! (if not this year again :) )
We are thinking of trying the lantern walk at Chester Zoo. Have you been?
