In the heart of the beautiful Monmouthshire countryside lies this chic and stylish lodge. A converted poultry shed conveniently named The Chicken Shed.
It's trendy, modern and with 4 bedrooms and a large open plan living area, the perfect place for a family getaway. With 2 lounge areas and a dining area, its a great place for families, imagine your kids playing with their toys in the smaller lounge whilst you sit in the area beside them, reading a book or enjoying a glass of wine.
The large kitchen area has all the modern appliances including a Nespresso maker which the owners kindly supply pods for.
It's dog friendly with a fabulous garden, swings for the kids, a hammock to relax in and lots of local walks of varying distances.
If the weather is nice there is a firepit with an endless supply of wood to sit around whilst enjoying the sunset over the magnificent views.
What I love about this place is that you feel you are in the middle of nowhere, it is peaceful and secluded yet not too far from exploring the near by town Monmouth, local castles and excellent restaurants.
The Hardwick is a cosy pub with Michelin quality food. It's chef is Steven Terry for the Great British Menu fans amongst you. The chocolate mousse with honeycomb and salted caramel sauce is a must have.
If you have time, explore the beautiful castle which captures you from the entrance with its beautiful entrance. There's lots to see with interactive areas for kids, a spiral staircase to climb and take in the views from its great tower. Dogs are allowed too which is an added bonus.
Monmouth is a good sized town to potter around. It's the home of Charles Rolls (of Rolls Royce) with a lovely statue outside the town hall.
It's streets are pretty with colourful buildings, and flowers, I particularly like Church Street with its pretty bunting and market stalls.
